Addiction

Down in the parking lot, I had just started washing my bike. When I heard a cry from behind. "Sir. Sir. Yaha pipe laga k gaddi dhona allowed nahi hai. (You can't wash the bike here.)" I turned back to find a thin looking guy in a blue uniform, walking towards me, repeating the lines. It was Virendra, one of the security personnel in our society. I would have argued with him and eventually cursed the society for making all sorts of useless rules. But today, I was in a good mood, so I decided I would talk my way out of it. "Bhaiya, pata nahi tha. Abhi ek side ho gaya, dusre side complete kar lene do. (I didn't know. I'm half way through with the cleaning. Let me finish it off now.)" "Sir, jaldi karo. Koi society member dek liya to muje sunn na padega. (Finish it off fast. If any society member notices, I'll get shouted at.)" After a few minutes, I persuaded him to let me continue with the cleaning. He waited around. ...

Story of Evolution - Part 2

A long time ago (a little after Grrr and his troop discovered fire), in some land far far away, lived Akti, the ape. She lived in the same troop as Grrr. Like the rest even she was expelled from her previous troop. The reason for her expulsion was, she was clumsy at jumping branches. She would fall after a few branches. But she had made up for this lack of talent by learning to walk on her hind limbs. (The apes did not consider her as one of their own cause of this reason) In the new troop, some of the apes including Grrr (and his better half, Rerr) did not approve of her actions. Lall was the one with more liberal views, so he always objected the decision of expelling Akti. On one particular occasion, Grrr was working (ya right Grrr was working, he couldn't live the lazy life after Rerr came in his life). Grrr was assigned the work of keeping fire alive with few other apes. So, Grrr and his team were working after a recent thunderstorm, when they accidentally happene...

Ride Solo

Image
A long day at work, I say is the day with nothing to do. Time just doesn't seem to pass by. Everyone has such days in their life. Few of my friends would disagree with it. But they forget to understand that, the only difference is, some have it more often than the others. Fortunately or unfortunately, I fall in the former category. A few days back, I had one of those days, sitting in front of the PC, wondering what to do next. A few of the times in the past, I have just gone home to sleep, had long conversations with friends or went on an excursion. This time it was meant to be an solo excursion, but where? Unlocked the PC and started checking for places on the map. I had previously covered most of the places around 30 km radius to my work place, so I hardly had options of going to some new place. After 5 minutes of random browsing, I selected the following route.  My Selected Route for the trip Why I selected this remote looking place? Well, even I don't...

Story of Evolution - Part 1

A long time ago (thousands of years before humans evolved), in some land far far away, lived Grrr the ape. Grrr was happy living amidst the trees with his troop, till one particular day (ya there is always a particular day for the story). The skies became dark with sadness and began crying loudly (or so the apes thought). And this time with sadness came the anger in form of sparks and noises. These things were quite common for the troop except for Grrr. He had been expelled from his previous troop for being the laziest, but fortunately he was taken in by his current troop. A troop formed by the expelled apes. This troop occupied the most horrid region - few trees, less vegetation, prone to floods and droughts - under the leadership of Lall. Lall was strong and smart, but was expelled by his previous troop for being too horny. Every ape in this troop had a past in some other troop. Lall had taken charge as usual and was guiding the troop uphill to a more safer place. Grrr ...

The Losing Touch

Last week I did not write a post. Why, cause I was out of topics? Sort of yes, and no. In past few weeks a lot has transpired in Indian politics. So I had plenty of things to write about, BUT it was all over the media as well, hence it didn't really make sense for me to talk about it again. Well for my ignorant friends I will state a few of the topics to look up, starting from the anti-national revolt of JNU and arrest of Kanhaiya Kumar to his bail, Rohith Vemula sucide row, Smriti Irani's trending Lok Sabha speech and the release of Financial budgets. I won't be taking any of these topics cause one could just Google these and an array of news links would popup. But do all of these news suggest that our country is in a political turmoil. I would say, NO. It could be well perceived as a good functioning of our media to cover all of this on various platforms. This has been greatly possible with the technological advancements over past 10-15 years. I remember...
