Rashtrapati Bhavan goes Missing

Image
The sun is yet to come out, its raining heavily and he has just disconnected a call when the phone rings again. "Hello. Yes I'm on my way. In the rick. They are waiting there", he replies partly yawning and then disconnects. Two different thoughts - Oh man, how I miss my sleep. Haha, fashionably late for a person living so close - running through his head. In a few minutes Mr R is at the airport. At the gate are Miss A, Miss M and Mr H waiting for him. (I'm using short names for the people cause I haven't consented them about this post, so maintaining anonymity plus its fun to write in third person. For those of you who haven't guessed it, yes, Mr R is me). After waiting in a long queue (even though they had got the web check-in done) to deposit the check-in luggage they were finally aboard the Indigo Airlines for the Capital. All four of them had a seat next to the window (because badal zaruri hai)  staring at the clouds as it turned colour from da...

The First Rains

The little kid is sitting on the bed by the small grilled window, intently watching Scooby-Doo and his band of friends chasing monsters, while the sun casts the iron-grill pattern on the bed. The newly repaired fan rotating at its best to keep the sole occupant at ease. The kid completely unaware of the world outside. Slowly, the pattern on the grill starts fading until it is completely lost in the shadow of a dark cloud hovering high in the sky. The pace of people on the lane outside the house begins to rise, as the first few drops make its way down to the ground. In a matter of minutes the light drops turn into a gentle shower as the commotion of people running for cover has increased. The asbestos roof sheets of the houses lining the lane keep its occupants dry but hardly help the pedestrians in this matter. As the aroma of the soil and stink of dog poop from the nearby playground fills the air, the electricity of the houses goes missing. The kid is now left staring at a black...

The Album

The final part of the series is here. You can find the previous parts Here!! "Happy anniversary, love", he said smiling gently and placed a light kiss on her cheeks. Her face was pale and wrinkled, but the joy glistened in her eyes when she replied "Happy anniversary to you too." With a hope-filled face she asked, "Did the kids call?" He shook his head in despair. "Lets not worry about them. Look what I found", pulling out an old album from behind, he showed it to her. "Remember this? Back when these were in fashion." "How could I ever forget this or anything related to this?" and her face lit-up. Both sat there turning the pages of the album, re-living the days. The album had been Olive's gift to him on their first month anniversary. It was a symbol of her love for him and the means of getting back the old Nik she had lost when she asked for the 21 days of break. The theory had worked partly. The 21 ...

The Pact

This is the 4th part of the 5 part series. You can read the previous parts here - The Call , The Date , The College Reunion . Was it a joke? It did not seem like. She must have lied to me. But what about the proposal? She had never done that one before. We had been together for a really long time in India and why now? Something is not right. What about Lyra? What to tell her? How to justify this entire night? The once wonderful date night had become a distant memory, weighed down by these thoughts. He got home, went straight to his bed and tried endlessly to forget this as if it was a bad dream. The lack of sleep just increased his confusion. Desperation was at an all time high. Olive or Lyra? Later at the desk Lyra came jumping, smiling. "Hey Nik, wish to catch up lunch", she winked. "Hey Ly... Lyra", he stuttered, "I.. I.. want to talk. Can you.. we speak in pri.. private" "Hey dude slow. Don't you go on the knee" she said c...

The College Reunion

This is continuation to The Call and The Date stories. It was strange. She had never expected he would disconnect. Was this the end? Did he disconnect her from his life after her confession? And then the phone rang once again. She swiped and heard a casual, nervous laugh on the receiver saying, "Hey, this is a prank right. You must be kidding right." He thinks this is a joke? How do I respond? She had prepared for a host of scenarios but this one wasn't one of them. With a brief pause, she replied, "Yes. Obviously." "Thank God. You sure scared the hell outta me. Its getting late. Lets talk tomorrow." "Sure", and she disconnected the call as the speaker let out a faint good night. After all the mental rehearsals, this confession of her love turned into a joke. Was she being serious this entire eve? Did she really love him or was it her desperation for having someone close? What was going to happen next? With all the jum...

The Date

This post relates to my previous post - The Call ... He was with Lyra when his phone began to ring. Without even glancing at the screen he politely put the phone on silence and back in the pant pocket. "Hey, you didn't even check who was calling", Lyra exclaimed. "It could be important" "Don't worry. No one is more important than you at this moment", he replied, dismissing her concern. "If it is someone in need, they would call again and then the phone would ring. Smart, that's how smart my phone is", he winked. "Nerd. Why am I here?" she replied, with a face-palm. "Haha. You were the one who asked me out. The nerd comes with the package, anyways I'll try my level best to keep the nerd out of this date." ******************************************** He had made plans for the evening which extended well through the night. But none of this planning would happen if not for Lyra. The p...

The Call

She had cramps in her stomach as she sat there and listened to the call being connected on her phone. What would she say, when he picked up the call? She had thought this through, but now she felt at loss for words. She would say it directly or maybe chat like usual and then bring up the topic as if it was a minor query. Before dialling up everything was planned, the conversation - her dialogues, his reply, her counter-reply - the alternate conversation, the alter-alternate conversation. But now as the caller tune began to play on the phone, she had forgotten everything. Panic bells ringing in her head. And then she sighed in relief as the call got disconnected. In the back of her mind she knew, he would not be able to receive the call at this moment, but the call had to be made after all the thinking and planning. It was Valentines Day, almost all her friends were out on a date, while she had rejected 2 proposals in the day. Sitting in the bedroom, contemplating loneliness, her ...

The Unusual Visit

Piyush was staring at the blue gate, contemplating whether he wanted to go in or not. He had planned this visit more than a month back but never could he muster the courage to do it until now. And what would he tell at home? Why did it take so long for him to get back? If he would tell the truth they would have been proud and even gone about telling it to the neighbours. But he did not want the world to know about this expedition of his. After a lot of planning and procrastinating, he was finally here - in front of a two storied bungalow painted in orange tinge, bordered by poster covered grey compound walls and the blue gate. Finally, he made up his mind, cause he would be cheating himself if he turned back now. He began looking around for a bell or something to open the gate. On the compound wall adjacent to the gate, was a message painted in red - Pull rope for bell - with a crooked arrow pointing in at the small hole between the gate and the wall. He reached for ...

After four 2 liners, comes the story of half relations. Do check the 2 liners to know what different half relations are. This story is just a part of the series and also.   “I am sharing a Half relationship story at  BlogAdda  in association with  #HalfGirlfriend ”. Enjoy the story :)  Sree had lost all hopes today when he saw Priya with the other guy, walking hand in hand. She had messaged him in the morning that she would not be coming to office, since she was not keeping well. When he told her that he would come to her place to help her. She promptly replied that Baba would help her. And now after six hours she was strolling past him with some stranger. It had been 7 years, 2 months and 10 days since he first fell in love. The most theatrical love at first sight scenario where the boy crashes into the girl and they are committed for life. But only with him it had been Satish Uncle - Priya's father - he had crashed into, knocking him to the ground w...

Untitled - Part 1

There is a void, deep down. A void, no mortal soul or an earthly possession could fill. Why do I feel it? Even I'm trying to figure out. Some things are just there, like the Stars in the night sky - such worthless specs in the black, with no significance, except astrology (boring and fake). Void can be filled, they say. And today I'm trying this. Agar kisi cheez ko dil se chaaho to puri kayanat usey tumse milane ki koshish mein lag jati hai. I don't think SRK would mind if I borrow a line of his. Okay, so where was I?? Uhh... Ya. Today I found this blog. Not visited by many, read by even fewer and liked by probably none or maybe just one person - Royson, the owner of this blog. And on behalf of Royson I post this. It's easy to get into any virtual space. Don't worry Royson, I have not accessed anything else yet, but if you delete this post then mind, YOU! After reading this post you will probably not delete this. It will get you some readers probably, Loser....
