Sree had lost all hopes today when he saw Priya with the other guy, walking hand in hand. She had messaged him in the morning that she would not be coming to office, since she was not keeping well. When he told her that he would come to her place to help her. She promptly replied that Baba would help her. And now after six hours she was strolling past him with some stranger.

It had been 7 years, 2 months and 10 days since he first fell in love. The most theatrical love at first sight scenario where the boy crashes into the girl and they are committed for life. But only with him it had been Satish Uncle - Priya's father - he had crashed into, knocking him to the ground with a pair of bags that Satish Uncle was carrying. Then she came rushing, shouting at the top of her voice, while he was lost in the beauty. From that day on Sree's infatuation had grown into passion.

Now he couldn't even wish that she dumps this stranger. There had been four other guys before this stranger and every time she was dumped or so she told him, she came crying to him. He was the shoulder she cried on, shared all her secrets until now, took to shopping and even fought. Sree had been her only friend when she moved to Mumbai from Kanpur with her Dad.

For past six years, be it school, college or even colony friends, everyone used to pair them up. That was the bond they shared. It had taken him a year to muster the courage to walk to her and propose. She replied that she would never think of a relation and that she considered him as a good friend. A few months later when they got into college she started dating Sebastian, and Sree was the first person she told this about.

Sree had silently accepted his fate. Every time she broke up, his expectations of him being the next would increase, but she always found the other guy. And now after four break ups, the only thing he hoped was that she finally finds the perfect guy for herself. He had lost hopes of ever being in a relationship with Priya, but he hoped to always preserve this bond which was more than just mere friendship.

Today, he was about to lose that if he didn’t act. Sree went to Priya's place to help Uncle Satish as usual. For past 3 years after Satish Uncle had a heart attack, he had made it a routine to help him and Priya and then go down two floors to his home.

He waited longer talking with Uncle Satish, lying how Priya was working late at office to cover up for him. He waited till Priya came in and then took her to the side announcing to Priya's Baba that he wanted to discuss some office work. As soon as they went in the other room and barred the door Sree burst out. "How could you do this to me, Priya?"

"Sree, what are you talking about? Are you alright?", she said as she moved closer to him.

Shrugging her off, he continued, "I saw you entering the park with that ugly stranger. You lied about not being well. You broke my trust." Now sobbing, stammering, he went on, "You.. you.. know how.. how I feel about you. B..but I always kept my.. my feelings locked.. for.. for this transparent relation.. Why..? Why..?"

The compassion on Priya's face disappeared as a stern look crept in. "I told you not to come to my place today. Did you listen to me. And why were you even following me. You Creep. Its because of you that I never had a stable relation. Now that I am trying to handle it my way, you interfere." She was almost at the top of her voice. If Uncle Satish did not have problem with hearing, he would have rushed in. "Get the hell out of my house and my life. Just.. Just fucking leave."

"P..Pri..Priya", Sree was lost of words. He looked shocked, more shocked than when he had heard his mother had passed away. He wanted to stay, to apologize, to make up to her, convincing himself that Priya was right. After what he had done, how could he stay. The look in her eyes was killing him. Wiping the tears on the sleeve of his hands, he bolted to his house. He did not hear Satish Uncle calling after him, as he left. He even failed to know the peculiar stare of the neighbors who had been drawn out by Priya's yelps.

Sree's one-sided love had met a great twist. A twist that might have choked it completely. It was the beginning of the end to his Half Girlfriend story.
