War is Peace
Freedom is Slavery
Ignorance is Strength
These three lines were, have and probably will be true.
For the uninitiated - these lines appear in George Orwell's novel, "1984". Orwell has predicted the future we would be living in and seems to be coming true every passing day.
Why do I discuss this today? Well the recent political Indo-Pak tension has got me thinking. I do condemn the recent Uri terror attack and support the army for the surgical strike. But what I do not understand is why is India and Pakistan fighting over Kashmir and Baluchistan.
India says, by holding Kashmir and helping Baluchistan get its freedom, it is trying to help the people in those regions. Similar is the stance of Pakistan. But has anyone bothered to ask what the common folk in Kashmir and Baluchistan want.
As a human, I say, I know what they really want. And that is to be left alone to live in peace. The people living at the borders are least concerned whether they are part of India or Pakistan, until they are allowed to live in peace and provided basic rights.
We, living far away from these war afflicted regions would never understand this. All we do is demand for these regions, just cause the politicos say so. Why do the politicians do this. Well, for starters, let me explain you one simple thing. We humans are very emotional beings. When told, that our brothers are in pain we immediately decide to help without realizing the full scenario.
The politicians from both our countries as well as these regions are using this manipulative tool (emotion) to stay in power. Power is one of the most addictive things. And to remain in power, these few elected people will make sure that this problem is never solved.
Due to this constant tension in these regions, the evil minds (another group fighting for power) find it easier to corrupt the damned souls (commoners in these areas). And that's how my friends - terrorism is born.
If our two countries stop fighting (each other) for a moment and join hands to eradicate terrorism, we would probably have a brighter future.
But will we do this?
No. If we do this then how are our representatives supposed to be in Power. This is exactly what Orwell stated and its turning out to be more true than ever.
This is not just an Indo-Pak thing. All around the globe, every world leader is doing this in some way or the other.
We as humans, need to reach that stage, where we break borders and join countries to form a single nation of peace rather than divide to smaller regions. I don't see this happening in my lifetime, but hope that few generations down the line it is made possible. Remember...
