Carpool - New way to Go!!
Release Clutch... Accelerate a little... Break...
Every morning and every evening (except for the weekends) this is what most of the people owning a vehicle do.
Such a menace this is. But the nightmare for any driver stuck in such a traffic is a vehicle breakdown. Doesn't even matter if its your vehicle or some public transport, the jam grows exponentially. And the noise pollution that it causes - OMG! - just unbearable.
As I write this post, I can feel the Peep... Poon.. Honk... in my head, from the traffic that I just came through.
A hard day at office is usually the day when I face more traffic. Waiting in the traffic, breathing those fumes and the constant honking can depress any person. When you start your day on such a depressing note, how do you think the rest of your day is going to be.
Bad mood is known to be contagious. This frustration/stress that you acquire due to the traffic is reflected in your life and work. And it keeps on spreading like a wild fire.
You might be wondering what crap I'm speaking here. Well, traffic stress is a real thing. Don't believe me? Check this video below.
Do we have a solution to this problem? The answer would be, Yes and No. Yes, because there is a solution in our own hands. No, because we are too craven to implement it. So, what is the solution?
The simple solution to this is - Carpool.
Everyday I see a lot of vehicles stuck in traffic. But most of them have just one passenger - the driver. When 4 people are moving to the same destination, then why not use a single vehicle. If 4 people follow this, the roads have 3 less cars. Imagine how less cluttered the roads will be when many people start following this system. The cost on fuel can also be shared this way.
Cab booking apps like Ola and Uber have realized the importance of Carpooling for their drivers as well to the extent that they have got features like 'share my ride'. This helps their customers to pay less, the drivers face less traffic stress and they can serve more customers with the same number of cabs.
When there are so many advantages, why are we not opting for this? The answer is trust. We humans have grave trust issues. People who own vehicles fear that his passengers might dirty the interiors and passengers fear that they might be mugged by a mob. All these concerns are right, but we can solve this.
People from same societies or workplaces can get together to share their rides. If not that then I have two more solutions for you guys.
- Register and start using apps like - Lyft, Getaround, etc.
- Put a post on the following page - CityCarpoolers. This page is created to help people carpool.
If you don't need carpool, then share this post to those who might need it. Lets try and make this world a better place to live.
