#BlogToPM

Dear Prime Minister, I hope you are doing well. With all the election rallies, flying overseas and attending a ton of launch events it must be really cumbersome. And as you are ageing your resistance to cold might be decreasing as you once mentioned in a session with school children. Medical facilities are growing expensive in private hospitals ( ET: 4 NCR Hospitals jacked up prices of branded drugs 12 fold: NPPA ) and the deteriorating state of many public hospitals ( News18: Public Healthcare On Life Support: A Day in Delhi’s Government Hospitals ), we wouldn't want you to be growing sick. With Rahul Gandhi wearing a 70k jacket ( Zee: Rahul Gandhi wears Rs 70K jacket in Meghalaya; BJP's turn for 'suit-boot' jibe ), I would suggest that even you get something along that line to protect from climate change. Sorry beloved leader, I meant growing cold. I guess, I took it a little too far with the climate change statement made in 2014 and I surely appreciate the effo...

The Date

This post relates to my previous post - The Call ... He was with Lyra when his phone began to ring. Without even glancing at the screen he politely put the phone on silence and back in the pant pocket. "Hey, you didn't even check who was calling", Lyra exclaimed. "It could be important" "Don't worry. No one is more important than you at this moment", he replied, dismissing her concern. "If it is someone in need, they would call again and then the phone would ring. Smart, that's how smart my phone is", he winked. "Nerd. Why am I here?" she replied, with a face-palm. "Haha. You were the one who asked me out. The nerd comes with the package, anyways I'll try my level best to keep the nerd out of this date." ******************************************** He had made plans for the evening which extended well through the night. But none of this planning would happen if not for Lyra. The p...

The Call

She had cramps in her stomach as she sat there and listened to the call being connected on her phone. What would she say, when he picked up the call? She had thought this through, but now she felt at loss for words. She would say it directly or maybe chat like usual and then bring up the topic as if it was a minor query. Before dialling up everything was planned, the conversation - her dialogues, his reply, her counter-reply - the alternate conversation, the alter-alternate conversation. But now as the caller tune began to play on the phone, she had forgotten everything. Panic bells ringing in her head. And then she sighed in relief as the call got disconnected. In the back of her mind she knew, he would not be able to receive the call at this moment, but the call had to be made after all the thinking and planning. It was Valentines Day, almost all her friends were out on a date, while she had rejected 2 proposals in the day. Sitting in the bedroom, contemplating loneliness, her ...

The Issue

King Ratansen is led to Singhal Kingdom (Sri Lanka) by a talking parrot - former friend of Padmini - who describes the beauty of Padmini (aka Padmavati), the Princess of Singhal Kingdom. What? A talking parrot? This sounds like fiction. So, I googled out what Padmavati is all about and guess what I found. It is a fictional tale first written in 1540, while the quest by Alauddin Khilji to capture Chitor took place in 1303. And there exists no documented proof of existence of Padmavati. Why all this hullabaloo I wonder? It could be a publicity stunt went horribly wrong, a political diversion to divert people from real issues, or just a few mindless folks leading the entire community on a senseless protest similar to what happened in Maharashtra on 3rd January, 2018 when the so-called followers of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar damaged property to stage a bandh. And then we have the minister of higher education, Satyapal Singh, dismissing theory of evolution given by Darwin. Peo...

At the Coffee Machine

It all began with a cup, actually 2 small paper cups - white from the inside, with graffiti like prints on the outside. Like best friends they support one another. Alone they might not have been able to handle it, but united they are strong. This paper cup bond meets two perfect snow-white cubes of sugar. Perfectly polished, devoid of bagasse, they tumble down into the cup, one besides the other. A while later, you can hear the grinding as coffee beans in the transparent casing slide to replace their friends. And then with a slurping noise the brown liquid oozes down into the cup. The sugar cubes absorbing every drop, turning brown from bottom up until there is no more of white remaining. Moments later, a foggy mist appears above the cup, like the magician conjuring up for a show and then in the blink of the eye, the hot white milk has drowned the cubes. The cubes giving away their sweetness in this beautiful amalgamation of milk and coffee, the sacrifice to reduce the bi...

It is Real

Main jindagi ka saath nibhaata chala gaya.. Har fikr ko dhunen men udaata chala gaya.. Wait! This is what we have been doing this entire time. We are smoking (dhunen m uda rahe hai) everything, to the extent that we need to ban some important things. This is not above any of the things discussed until now. The above song - irrelevant, aforementioned ban - irrelevant. The relevant topic is... (wait for it).. Climate Change Yes, you heard it right. Climate change is a real thing. Oh yes! This is in respect to some recent video by some famous personality who commented something silly, and he has some pretty big fan following, so it goes out to those bhakts (followers) as well. And no. Climate change is not a propaganda by the Chinese, as another famous personality seems to have stated few months back. Climate change is just as real as The Emergency, 2G Scam, Intolerance, Communal Violence or Demonetization. Oh sorry, the last point is still debatable, thoug...

Sonu

Image
"Sonu catch", the elder brother called out as he threw the tennis ball. No sooner had the ball made contact with his hand, there was a kick on his stomach. Coughing, he woke up from sleep. "Get up, chotte. It's getting late. Pick up your bowl and run at the signal. If you are not there in 5 minutes, I'll thrash you like the dog you are", scowling the brute moved out of the room. Rubbing his aching tummy, from under the rags, Sonu picked up the bowl and limped through the door. Regretting the day when he followed this brute, in temptation of chocolates. Only if he had listened to his brother and stayed back, this dream would have been a reality. He wiped the tears, flowing down his face. Sonu could be any kid, in our society. Never neglect such incidents. Probably this video will create awareness.
